The Nandigama Service Inam Ryotwari Patta Rights Protection Committee has demanded that full rights over Service Inam lands be granted to the respective farmers. The committee urged the government to revoke GO No. 16/2013 and grant absolute rights over their lands to the affected landowners (original *pattadars*). It also appealed for the restoration of the Inam Abolition Act of 1956.
A meeting was held under the committee’s auspices on Sunday evening at ‘The Clever Nest School’ premises in Kakatiya Nagar, Nandigama. The meeting took place under the guidance of the committee’s Honorary President, Ratakonda Koteswara Rao, and President, Kotha Koteswara Rao.
Speaking on the occasion, several affected individuals stated that they have been facing severe difficulties since land registrations were halted in 2013. They noted that they had purchased the lands with government approval, completed registrations, obtained bank loans, and built houses to live in.
They further stated that they have been cultivating these agricultural lands for over 60 years and had obtained *pattadar* passbooks as well as bank loans. The affected individuals expressed anguish, asserting that the lands in question were purchased by their elders through hard-earned money and were not encroached upon from others.
Many at the meeting opined that the ordinance introduced in 2019 failed to provide a permanent solution to their problem, serving merely as an eyewash. They urged the government to take measures to grant full rights over the ‘Service Inam’ lands to the respective farmers.
A large number of affected individuals from Nandigama, Jaggayyapeta, Chilakaluripeta, and other areas attended the meeting. Over 150 affected members participated, including Chintapalli Prasad, Ginjupalli Ramesh, Achyutaramayya, Javvaji Srinivas, Rayapati Ramesh, Mandava Pitchayya, and Chandrasekhar.
The affected individuals appealed to public representatives and government officials to immediately focus on the land issue, resolve it, and ensure justice for them.
It was decided at the meeting to organize all the affected ‘Service Inam’ landholders into a committee and formulate a future course of action to resolve the issue. Committee members urged the affected farmers and the public to cooperate with this initiative.
