Massive infrastructure projects worth ₹145.13 crore Steps towards transforming Nandigama into amodel municipality – Priority given to roads, drinking water, drains, parks, and streetlights
The government is prioritizing the comprehensive development of Nandigama town. Development works worth a total of ₹145.13 crore are being undertaken with the aim of improving citizens’ living standards and equipping the town with modern infrastructure. Priority is being given to amenities that directly impact daily life, ranging from drinking water supply and roads to drains, sanitation, parks, streetlights, and a new municipal building.
Details of these development works were explained to the public during a special event held at the local Babu Jagjivan Ram Function Hall. Notably, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu virtually laid the foundation stone on September 22, 2026, for projects—including roads, dividers, parks, streetlights, and a new municipal building—to be executed at a cost of ₹19 crore under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). Local MLA and Government Whip Tangirala Sowmya attended the event as the chief guest. Officials stated that the town’s development works are progressing under the guidance of theMinister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Ponguru Narayana. **High Priority for Drinking Water**
Work on expanding the drinking water supply system—costing ₹103.26 crore under the AIIB scheme—is already underway to ensure an uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water to the residents of Nandigama. These works are being executed to provide a long-term solution to the town’s drinking water needs.
**Focus on Sanitation**
Solid and liquid waste management projects worth ₹3.54 crore are being implemented under the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) to make the town clean and hygienic. The primary objective is to develop an efficient waste management system while reducing reliance on dumping yards.
**Priority for Roads and Drains**
Road and drainage works worth ₹3.33 crore are currently in progress using 15th Finance Commission funds. Additionally, theprocess of obtaining administrative approval is underway for the construction of sewage drains worth ₹16 crore under UCF Phase-3.
**Transforming Nandigama**
Works undertaken through the HAM project will not only improve the town’s main roads but also facilitate the installation of dividers, parks, and modern streetlights. Priority is also being given to developing parks and playgrounds for children to create a pleasant environment for residents. The initiative aims to give the town a modern look through the installation of energy-efficient LED streetlights. Development is Possible Through Public Participation
Officials emphasized that public participation is crucial intransforming Nandigama into a developed, clean, safe, and convenient model municipality. They urged citizens to cooperate with the municipality’s development initiatives and to act responsibly regarding sanitation, the segregation of wet and dry waste, and the protection of public assets. Local MLA and Government Whip Tangirala Sowmya directed officials to continuously monitor and review the progress of all proposed and ongoing development works to ensure their completion within the stipulated deadlines.
With Nandigama town set for a transformation through development projects worth ₹145.13 crore, coordinated efforts among the government, officials, and the public will make it possible to turn the town into a more beautiful, clean, and comfortable place.
