Today, i.e. on 28/08/2024, 144 Battalion, BSF, organised a free medical camp at Baba Nanak Saheb Gurudwara, in bordering village Mahawa (Distt Amritsar), in association with GNDU hospital & Govt doctors and specialists, for the benefit of border population of the Nation. The free medical camp was inaugurated by Shri S S Chandel, DIG SHQ BSF Amritsar. Mr Ajay Kumar Mishra Commandant, 144 Battalion also held a meeting with villagers of Village Mahawa and all neighbouring bordering villages, listened to their problems & issues and assured them of all support from BSF and also exhorted them to assist BSF in helping BSF to fight trans border crime and menace of narcotics in the area.
This programme has been organised under Vibrant Village Programme, where BSF is playing a very pivotal role in the development of the bordering population.
Shri S S Chandel, DIG, SHQ Amritsar, stated that BSF is committed for checking the menace of smuggling of narcotics and other trans border crimes, in the area, and for the benefits of the youth and bordering population in the area of responsibility.
Patients from the village Mahawa and all the neighbouring bordering villages took part in the programme. Mr Ajay Kumar Mishra, Comdt 144 Bn, Dr Suresh Verma, CMO (SG), Shri Rajender Toppo, 2IC, 144 Bn, Shri Vijay Pal, AC, 144 Bn and Shri Neeraj, AC, 144 Bn, were also present during the occasion and facilitated the patients from all the nearby bordering villages.
In the past, on 10 April, 2024, 144 Bn, BSF, had also organised a free camp for fixation of prosthetic hands to the handicap villagers and BSF population in the bordering area, in association with one charity NGO from Madhya Pradesh, im which prosthetic hands were fixed to 22 handicap personnel in the area.
Comdt, 144 Bn, committed that more such programmes shall be organised for the youth, patients and needy population of the bordering villages in near future. Previously such camps were also conducted at all the bordering villages in the AOR by 144 Bn, BSF. Medicine, Opthalmologist, ENT obs & gynae specialists from Govt hospital and BSF doctor and staff participated in the programme.
