Mangalpur, 25/10/26
An atmosphere of fear and anxiety has gripped the main road connecting Boulanga to Mallikapur Chhak under Dasharathpur Block in Jajpur district as evening sets in. Locals who use this road daily have expressed serious concern over the presence of the government liquor shop at Mallikapur.
The students of Sadhu Gaureswar Mahavidyalaya, Boulanga, who commute on this road, are also feeling unsafe, sources said.
DAILY RUSH AT LIQUOR SHOP CREATES FEAR
According to information, the government liquor shop located near Mallikapur Chhak witnesses a heavy rush of people every day. Locals allege that travelling on this road during evening hours has become a matter of fear and discomfort.
As this road is the lifeline for thousands of people from several villages, a peaceful and safe environment is essential. However, the situation arising due to the liquor shop needs immediate investigation.
STUDENTS OF SADHU GAURESWAR COLLEGE FEEL UNSAFE
Hundreds of students from different villages of the region come to Sadhu Gaureswar Mahavidyalaya at Boulanga for studies. After classes, they have to return home through this very road.
It is alleged that the students, especially girl students, feel a sense of insecurity while commuting in the evening. Ensuring the safety of students while going to and returning from educational institutions is a prime responsibility of the administration. If fear prevails in the minds of students, it also increases anxiety among their parents.
DEMAND FOR POLICE PATROLLING AND ACTION
Locals have strongly demanded to strengthen the security arrangement on the Boulanga-Mallikapur main road and increase police patrolling in the evening hours.
If any antisocial activities or obstruction to commuters is taking place near the liquor shop, it should be investigated and action should be taken as per law, they demanded.
The residents of the area have urged the police administration, excise department and local administration to jointly review the situation to ensure that all students including girl students and the general public can travel without fear and that the safety of students is ensured by removing fear from people’s minds.
